I want to first deeply thank teacher Jay Wells of Pender Harbor Secondary School for his creativity, foresight and compassion to come up with this unique course on the plight of the Sakinaw salmon for his students (Coast Reporter, Nov. 28).

This is so critical and important.

Secondly, a deep thank you and gratitude for the students who signed up for this course. Whatever their original reasons were at the start, it is very clear they took this on as something so much more than just more credits. Their commitment, involvement and taking it to all political levels is so much appreciated.

Thank you to reporter Christine Wood for an excellent write up on this subject and for Coast Reporter putting it front and centre on the opening page to bring it to all our attention.

And thank you to our MLA Nicholas Simons for following through with this, helping the kids at the legislature and introducing them. It rocks having the best MLA in the province!

And finally, thank you for making a cynical old codger’s day. It’s not easy, but reading this sure made my day. I wish everyone success in the future on this endeavour.
