With reference to two letters to the editor (Coast Reporter, Aug. 8) and a recent news article regarding the Goldmoss gallery rezoning (Aug. 1), as a resident of Metcalfe Road and gallery neighbour, it seems from my perspective that most of the neighbourhood is supportive or neutral about the gallery rezoning.

We are simply neighbours living in a lovely neighbourhood, for the most part getting along very well and making allowances where need be.

The parking issue with the gallery is only two weekends a year, and frankly it is exciting to see all the cars parked along the road and to feel proud that our community artists are so valued. In fact, any real parking issues stem from our day-to-day Lower Road neighbours’ tenants, guests and boats — and these are some of the very people complaining. And yes, twice a year I can hear live music from my deck. But I also hear drumming from the pier and these musical days remind me of what makes Roberts Creek so special.

Let’s just put it all in perspective: there will be no nightclubs, stores or restaurants opening up in our neighbourhood anytime soon due to rezoning. Inflammatory remarks, exaggerations and dramatizations are unhelpful and inaccurate. Let’s work it out and plan objectively and peacefully, while noting there are many neighbourhoods throughout the world that have very big problems indeed, and we are so extremely blessed not to be one of them.
