Scared by zoning issue

I am scared because there is a newish zone being requested right next door to our house in Roberts Creek.

I do not pretend to understand it, but I am scared because it will change my life for the worse if it goes through and it does not need to. It is being supported by many artists and I understand it on the surface.

Our neighbourhood is zoned R1, for single families residence. It has always been a quiet, friendly neighbourhood, but not any more. Our neighbourhood has been divided and you can see it visually on a map that was taken around the neighbourhood with a red dot beside those houses that think it is OK to have a different zone within a R1 zone.

I do not know the exact words that were said at these houses, as our house was not canvassed. Were the households told all the details of what is going to be allowed?

This proposed zone would allow the gallery many things in our R1 zone and a few are: to have very loud bands playing outside on the May long weekend and Thanksgiving weekend; be commercial, with buyers in and out of the property; have four events a year that will be invasive into our quiet lives; and have chickens less than one metre from their property line. The parking alone at the events that happen should be enough to have them move it to a commercial zone.
