Putting your dog at risk

I saw a dog in peril recently at Sunnycrest Mall when he jumped out of the uncovered box of a pickup truck and he couldn’t quite touch the ground enough to support himself. As he frantically struggled, several people ran to help him and several ran inside to try to find his owner.

When the owner emerged and we told him what happened he said, “Well, the dog is stupid. He shouldn’t have jumped out.”

To this man I suggest that he teach his dog to be able to do the math required to calculate the difference between the length of his leash and the distance to the ground. Or perhaps he could simply leave his beloved dog at home. An open truck box is no place for any animal to travel.
