New bylaw?

LETTERS

The following letter was sent to the District of Sechelt and copied to Coast Reporter.

We recently had a professional appraisal of our house and the first thing the appraiser did was photograph our view. You are probably aware of the value attached to a good view and are reminded of it daily in the press, in the advertisements for the sale of properties.

With this in mind, could council please consider introducing a new bylaw, which would require the trimming of trees and hedges in order that they not obstruct a neighbour’s view? It could result in greater harmony throughout the District. I suppose the harmony would be more readily achieved if the neighbour with the view were to pay for the trimming, a not unreasonable requirement.

David Phillips, Sechelt
