More provisions need to be in place

A message for those on the Sunshine Coast who have resisted the installation of a smart meter: progress has been made over the summer toward keeping our analog meters. But the recent letter sent out by BC Hydro shows we must continue to stand firm to protect our health, safety and privacy.

Do not sign any agreement with BC Hydro until the following provisions are in place:

Eliminate discriminatory fees for keeping your analog meter. That's extortion! Why should we have to pay in order to avoid these dangerous devices. (The scientific evidence on the harm done by them is abundant.)

Allow opt out for everyone, not just those with analogs. Thousands had the smart meter foisted upon them, often by bullying tactics. These people deserve a choice.

Reduce the number of radio frequency emitting smart meters and collectors to decrease the level of radiation in and around our homes.
