Lots of costs with name change

LETTERS

Editor:

I can understand the reasoning behind wanting a change, but I wonder if those who want the name of St. Mary’s Hospital changed have given consideration to the cost that is incurred by an institution when this occurs?

Consider the number of forms that are used daily for nearly everything that takes place in the hospital that will all have to be changed at considerable cost. On top of those internal forms there are those used for purchasing, inter-hospital communication, ambulance service, police reports and myriad government communications that all have to be changed.

Additionally there is the listing of the hospital in the telephone book and whatever services are done online that could easily be confusing for some trying to communicate. In these days where hospitals are trying to save dollars, this would be a direct outlay with absolutely no benefit to the hospital or its patients.
