Inconvenient business

Letters

Editor:

I get two emails on most days – the ferries are late and the parking lot is full.

It seems BC Ferries is tackling these problems by finding a few more parking spaces and trying to speed up foot passenger boarding. What about addressing the basic problem instead of the symptoms?

The ferries are overloaded and people are parking the car and travelling as foot passengers to avoid the overload delay. This represents a loss in revenue of about $55 per car!

With the B.C. Interior on fire, a lot of tourists are coming to the Coast this year. Other businesses see this as a tremendous opportunity; BC Ferries sees it as a huge inconvenience.

Maybe the new B.C. government can shake up the executive office in Victoria and find some real talent.
