Give where you live

Last week’s Coast Reporter included an insert from the Canadian Association of Gift Planners. It contained much useful information about different ways that people can support charities through financial vehicles such as wills, insurance policies, gifts of corporate shares, annuities, and other tools.

Sunshine Coast Community Foundation receives many such gifts each year. We help donors to give where they live by creating permanent funds that are carefully invested to create perpetual sources of income for local charities. They’re like RRSPs for philanthropy. The Foundation’s board and staff have the expertise to provide donors with the information they need to decide how their gift will make the biggest impact on issues that concern them. And all funds are put to work right here on the Sunshine Coast, helping charities that are solving challenges in our community. Since 2003 we have given out more than $800,000 in grants to local charities.

Anyone interested in leaving a lasting legacy that will pay dividends to the community for years to come is invited to contact the Foundation’s executive director, Wendy Francis, at sccfoundation@dccnet.com or 604-741-7360.
