I read with interest that Gibsons is willing to take on the Silverstone care facility. Gibsons council is sadly mistaken if they think the only contentious issue regarding this facility is its location. Gibsons has taken on the many problems surrounding this issue that Sechelt rightly challenged.
Once again Gibsons council is ignoring the voices of the many in accepting the “possibility” of money. But then again, Gibsons council is not renowned for its ability to listen to the people. Take for example the Winn Road disaster.
One win-win possibility is to leave Shorncliffe and Totem Lodge open and build another privately run facility in Gibsons. This would alleviate many of the problems regarding staffing and give Sechelt its own care facilities.
