Following a dangerous path

Last week’s shooting of a soldier at the War Memorial in Ottawa and a gun man on the loose in Parliament and the earlier running over of two soldiers in Quebec are tragic and terrifying events. However, what is even scarier to me is Canada’s willingness to involve itself in a military campaign against ISIS.

Any military action is going to mean civilian casualties, and surely this is going to backfire. ISIS and other radical groups use anger against the West as an effective tool in their brainwashing recruitment of disaffected, angry, young Muslim men. And so I ask myself if joining the war against them is not playing into their hands.

Some will see this view as naïve, but I find the path we are travelling down to be frighteningly blind.
