As a resident of Gibsons, I am very much in favour of a fixed link to the Sunshine Coast for a few different reasons, as follows:

1.  There will be lots of room to grow on the Coast, for all those displaced Lower Mainland residents who cannot, for the most part, afford to buy a home on the Lower Mainland.

2. I would welcome growth and economic prosperity and I don’t mind “sharing” the beautiful Sunshine Coast with many others as I too moved to Gibsons seven years ago, after living in North Vancouver for 20 years.

3. Not everyone wants to live in a condo, so the Coast would offer many people to live their dream of owning or renting a single-family home, if that is what they choose for themselves.

4. The Coast is close enough for many of us to commute to our jobs on the mainland with the present ferry system. I for one, as both a commuter and a resident of Gibsons, would appreciate the option of driving to the other side of Howe Sound.

5. Even though I don’t believe my personal ideal version of a fixed link is being considered (from Langdale to somewhere near Horseshoe Bay) I am still in favour of a fixed link, the closer to Langdale the better, as a fixed link, in my opinion, would be far superior to the ferry system which has proven to be far too expensive for most people to visit, let alone to commute as I have done over these very expensive ferry travelling years.
