Dedicated fenced dog park might work

Editor: I was a frequent visitor to Shirley Macey Park with my two dogs a couple years ago before they became too old. The group was extremely careful to pick up any dog poo as well as cleaning up after other folks who had not picked up.

I have a new foster dog and don’t go to Shirley Macey any more as the park does back onto a road where people have been seen speeding. I can’t be sure he won’t bolt if he sees something interesting, so safety is a concern.

How about solving this with a dedicated fenced dog park like exists in other municipalities?

I have found that dog park regulars police themselves and this would stop any concerns with multi-use fields.  There are some great areas around Gibsons where this would work.

Any candidates willing to support this?
