Report to come after election

Auditor General for Local Government

The auditor general for local government (AGLG) is still conducting a performance audit of the District of Sechelt and the results won’t be released until after the election.

A media relations spokesperson for the AGLG told Coast Reporter this week that none of the audit reports will be released between September and  December “in order to respect the local government election process.”

The report on Sechelt’s audit is scheduled to be released by March 31, 2015, the spokesperson said. Originally it was to be completed by March, 2014, but the AGLG website notes the first date was meant to be an estimate and is “subject to change.”

Sechelt was one of the first municipalities to be picked for a performance audit by the AGLG in May of 2013, along with 17 other municipalities in B.C.

Sechelt’s audit falls under the “learning from local government capital procurement projects and asset management programs,” and is focused on the new sewage treatment plant.
