Sunshine Coast RCMP and Commercial Vehicles Commission are investigating the cause of a single-vehicle collision involving a logging truck in Madeira Park.

At approximately 10:22 a.m. Wednesday morning, Oct. 23, RCMP received a report that a logging truck had gone off Highway 101 and crashed into a ravine near the 11500 block of the Sunshine Coast Highway.

"Police responded and learned that the truck was travelling southbound on Highway 101, when it lost control rounding a corner, striking a cement barrier," said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Steve Chubey in a media release. "The impact caused the trailer to go over the side and down a ravine, pulling the rig with it."

Chubey said the Commercial Vehicles Commission was contacted and the cause of the crash is being investigated. No injuries were reported on scene.
