Motorcyclist collides with deer

Sunshine Coast RCMP, the Roberts Creek fire department and paramedics were on the scene of an accident in Roberts Creek Tuesday night where a motorcyclist collided with a deer.

A motorcyclist sustained minor injuries after colliding with a deer on Highway 101 Tuesday evening.

Sunshine Coast RCMP, the Roberts Creek fire department and paramedics were called to the accident scene on Highway 101 near Gladwin Trail Road on May 6 at approximately 6:20 p.m.

“Police learned that a motorcyclist travelling towards Gibsons when a deer ran onto the roadway from the woods, into the side of the motorcycle,” said Cpl. Steve Chubey in a news release. “The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for precautionary reasons. The deer died on scene.”
