Final construction push is on

GIBSONS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Secretary-treasurer Nicholas Weswick said builders of the new Gibsons Elementary School are “getting ready for the final push to get students in by September.”

Weswick provided the update at the June 10 School District No. 46 board meeting.

“They’re expecting that the mechanical system should be in place and the occupancy permit will be delivered by the last week of August. That does leave some room for potential construction delays,” he said.

“So they’re going to delay the decision on whether or not to begin demolition of the old site until they have some assurances everything is falling into place. It doesn’t look like there will be any delays in construction and in getting that occupancy permit.”
