The Sunshine Coast Conservation Officer Service is currently investigating an elk poaching incident that occurred between Sept. 19 and 21 near Carlson Lake, in the Halfmoon Bay area.
Conservation officer Sgt. Murray Smith said a mature male elk was found in a nearby logging area with the meat and antlers removed.
“A green ATV was observed near the location and may have information related to the illegal harvest,” said Smith in a news release. “Conservation officers are seeking any information from the public related to the illegal harvest.”

The BC Wildlife Federation pays rewards up to $5,000 for information leading to the conviction of persons who have violated laws related to the protection of fish, wildlife or the environment.
