The third and final supermoon of 2016 rises over Howe Sound in this view from Mt. Elphinstone, taken at twilight on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Full moons in October, November and December this year all occurred when the moon was at its closest point in its orbit around Earth, causing it to appear up to 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter in the sky and earning it the special title of “supermoon.”
