Gibsons resident Kelly Adams, 38, is facing child pornography charges, but she is disputing those charges and will be fighting to clear her name in court.

"All I'm telling people is I had a friend stay with me for a few weeks from overseas. He compromised my computer. My lawyer will be clearing my name," she told Coast Reporter this week. "It was somebody else."

Adams appeared in Sechelt Provincial Court Aug. 22. Her arraignment was scheduled for Oct. 17.

"This multi-jurisdictional investigation involved the execution of multiple search warrants," said Sunshine Coast RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Steven Chubey.

Sunshine Coast RCMP took the lead in an investigation that included the Vancouver Police Department, BC Integrated Child Exploitation Unit and Powell River RCMP.

Adams was released from court on strict conditions limiting her access to the Internet, as well as unsupervised contact with minors.

Powell River RCMP executed a search warrant on Texada Island.

"In conjunction with the investigation we did execute a search warrant of a resident on Texada Island. As a result of that search warrant we have numerous items being examined by our tech crime unit," said Sgt. Rod Wiebe. "No charges yet, but they could be forth-coming once that examination is completed."

Adams said she had "no idea" what the connection to Texada Island was.

The initial tip came to the Vancouver Police Department, who passed on the information to the Coast RCMP detachments.

"Our only role in it was that it was initially reported to us and once it was found that it was outside of the City of Vancouver, we referred it to the RCMP," said Const. Lindsey Houghton of the VPD. "They took it from there, basically the same day."
