Public asked to help shape strategic plan

SD46

School District No. 46 (SD46) wants community input before a new strategic plan for 2015/19 is crafted.

Residents can complete an online survey titled Visions for Learning at www.surveymonkey.com/s/StratSurvey2015 and/or come to a Visions for Learning community forum at Chatelech Secondary School on Monday, March 9 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The short survey asks questions about the respondent’s best learning experiences in and out of school, what opportunities they’d like to see for students on the Coast and what they feel the school district is doing right.

The forum will explore similar topics in an effort to find out where SD46 should focus its efforts in the future.

The current SD46 strategic plan expires in June. It has been focused on improving student achievement, relationship building and learning environments.

“There are many subtopics under these three categories and a lot of work has been done in each,” said SD46 board chair Betty Baxter in her February update to the community online.

“In our consultations we want to find out where the community feels we are doing well and what are the areas that need more attention for the next few years. The goal is for a draft plan to be presented to the board in May and finalized in June and July so that our new 2015-2019 strategic plan can be implemented September 2015.”

Community members can give their input through the online survey until March 23; they must register soon for the March 9 forum to ensure a spot. Find a link to register for the forum at www.sd46.bc.ca
