Paint the town program

Sechelt

The Sechelt Downtown Business Association, in conjunction with the District of Sechelt, is encouraging commercial building owners in downtown Sechelt, particularly on Cowrie Street, to paint their buildings.

As an incentive, building owners may be eligible to be reimbursed for the cost of the paint used. Costs for labour are not eligible for reimbursement. Renovations that require a building permit are also not eligible. Commercial buildings must lie within the Downtown Business Improvement Area (see Bylaw 496).

For 2014, $30,000 has been made available through the downtown revitalization budget to be disbursed on a first come first served basis. Additional funds may be available in 2015 subject to the budgeting process.

In order to qualify, building owners must choose paint colours from a specified palette of colours. Special pricing for the paint allotted to beautification of downtown Cowrie has been made available thanks to Paul at Paul’s Paintin’ Place and Benjamin Moore Paints.

Take a digital ‘before’ picture of your building. Go to Paul’s Paintin’ Place and ask to see the colour palette for downtown Cowrie. Make your choice(s) from the palette provided. Ask for design support, if needed. Pay for the paint and complete the work. All exterior faces of the building may be painted.

You will be provided with a request for reimbursement form upon making your paint purchase under this program. If not provided, please request one as you must include this form when requesting your refund.

Once the work is complete, take a digital ‘after’ picture of your building. Submit the digital before and after pictures along with a copy of the paid invoice and Request for Reimbursement Form to: Sechelt Downtown Business Association, #203 – 5760 Teredo St, PO Box 442, Sechelt, BC, V0N 3A0.
