There will be ample opportunities for voters to hear from all the candidates running in the Nov. 15th municipal election as numerous all-candidates meetings have been scheduled.
Sechelt resident and seniors advocate Sue Jackel kicks things off with a pair non-partisan all-candidates forums with the first one for Sechelt mayoral candidates this Monday, Oct. 27 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre and a Sechelt council all-candidates forum on Tuesday Oct. 28, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the, Seniors Activity Centre.
An all-candidates meet and greet informal session will be held at the Gibsons and District Public Library for Gibsons council candidates on Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m.
The Elphinstone Electors Association will be hosting a forum for Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) candidates for Area E and for School District No. 46 (SD46) rural area two candidates on Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Frank West Hall (1224 Chaster Road).
SCRD candidates will debate from 7 to 8 p.m. with SD46 candidates debating from 8:15 to 9:15 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 30, the Gibsons & District Chamber of Commerce will host an all-candidates meeting for Town of Gibsons council at 7 p.m. at the Gibsons and area community centre. On Saturday, Nov. 1, the West Howe Sound Community Association will host an all-candidates meeting for Area F SCRD candidates and SD46 candidates for rural area two from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Eric Cardinall Hall.
SCRD candidates will speak from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. followed by the SD46 candidates from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The Roberts Creek Community Association will host an all-candidates meeting for Area D Roberts Creek SCRD candidates at the Creek Hall on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
Also on Thursday, Nov. 6, the Sechelt Chamber will host an all-candidates form at the Chatelech Secondary School Theatre from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
Sechelt council candidates will speak first followed up by the mayoralty candidates.
Coast TV will be filming live, with 91.7FM news director Sean Eckford as moderator.
This forum will be followed up on Friday, Nov. 7 with a mayoralty candidates’ luncheon at the Sechelt Golf and Country Club, from noon to 1:30 p.m. moderated by Coast Reporter editor Ian Jacques. Cost is $20 for Sechelt Chamber members and $25 for non-members.
The Sechelt Chamber has also launched a survey on the municipal election and is looking to hear from its members and the community at-large. Go to www.secheltchamber.bc.ca to complete the survey.
The Davis Bay/Wilson Creek/Selma Park Community Association will host an all-candidates meeting for Sechelt mayor and council on Monday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Davis Bay Hall.
