A community mailbox on Mercer Road in Halfmoon Bay was still taped up Jan. 12 after being hit during a rash of break-ins before Christmas.

A Canada Post community mailbox in the 6300 block of Gale Avenue North in Sechelt was once again the target of suspected thieves, Sunshine Coast RCMP reported.

The mailbox was hit overnight on Jan. 9, when a suspect pried open and gained access to multiple compartments.

“It is assumed that mail has been stolen and police are requesting anyone with any information about this and other recent mailbox break-ins to contact RCMP,” police said in a release.

RCMP were called to the same block of Gale Avenue North on Jan. 2 after two Canada Post community mail parcel boxes were found damaged and open. The incident followed a rash of mailbox break-ins in Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay and Madeira Park that were reported on Dec. 20.
