Gibsons Recycling, home of the Gibsons Resource Recovery Centre, is getting ready to welcome a special guest next week – B.C.’s lieutenant governor.

Buddy Boyd of Gibsons Recycling said Lt.-Gov. Judith Guichon accepted an invitation to tour the facility after the two met at April’s Creatively United Earth Week event in Victoria. Boyd gave a presentation at the event on how communities can achieve zero waste.

“We have been developing our Resource Recovery Centre for 13 years now with our vision of protecting the environment, creating jobs, and enhancing our community well being. I am humbled to be recognized by the lieutenant governor and honoured to be given the opportunity to walk through our operations with her,” Boyd said in a release announcing Guichon’s visit.

Boyd said local community leaders and representatives will be joining the lieutenant governor for the tour, and interested members of the public are also welcome to attend.

The visit is scheduled for July 5  from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Gibsons Recycling Depot, 1018 Venture Way.
