Harbour Air resuming flights

Transportation

Harbour Air is flying between Sechelt and downtown Vancouver again. The seaplane company announced last October that it was switching from daily flights to a seasonal schedule on that route, while year-round service would continue to Vancouver Airport and Nanaimo.

Harbour Air started flying twice daily, Monday to Friday, between Sechelt and downtown Vancouver on Feb. 27. The company plans to start weekend flights on April 1.

“We’re delighted to provide this important air link between the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver, and we will be offering reduced prices online,” said Harbour Air president Randy Wright in a release announcing the resumption of flights.

The company said it anticipates more than 2,700 people will fly the route in 2017, but Harbour Air marketing manager Peter Hunsinger said they haven’t yet decided if the route will transition to seasonal service again in the future.

Harbour Air has been offering seaplane service from Sechelt since 2006, and employs 12 people locally.
