Gibsons Legion losing its ladies auxiliary

Branch 109

The president of the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Gibsons says it’s going to be business as usual, despite a recent change.

Branch 109’s ladies auxiliary voted to disband on Jan. 15.

“We have been saddened by this decision – however, as a Legion we will continue to support our veterans, our seniors and our community,” branch president Wilma Jones told Coast Reporter.

“The work that was done by the ladies of the auxiliary will now be done within the branch, and seniors monthly lunches will continue as before. All other enquiries for memorials or catering and functions will be directed through our branch and assistance offered in times of need.”

Jones also said the Branch 109 executive appreciates what the auxiliary has done over the years and they’re grateful that many of them, who are also Legion members, will be continuing to support Branch 109 in other ways.

Jones said anyone needing information about the change is welcome to call Branch 109 at 604-886-2411.
