Gibsons AGM introduces ‘Cultural Change Initiative’

Chamber of Commerce

Paul and Judith Donin will present the ‘Cultural Change Initiative,’ a mechanism to address the exciting – and challenging – economic future for businesses in Gibsons and on the Sunshine Coast at the Gibsons & District Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, March 29 at the Gibsons Public Market. Doors open at 6 p.m. and early registration either online at gibsonschamber.com or in person at the Chamber office in Sunnycrest Mall is encouraged. Advance tickets are $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Tickets will be available at the door, $20 for members and $25 for non-members.

The Cultural Change Initiative is based on the fact that as our communities grow and change, the social dynamic alters as well. Strategic planning for change can ensure successful transitions with increased productivity for local businesses and improved morale for residents. However, almost 70 per cent of change efforts fail because of poor leadership and misaligned strategies. Through sound planning and awareness of the issues that change can provoke, managers, employers and community leaders can strategically prepare to meet the challenges that lie ahead.

Judith Donin is a senior consulting partner and executive coach with The Ken Blanchard Companies, working with individuals and teams to develop leadership capacity, team dynamics and optimal motivation. Paul Donin, a former associate with The Ken Blanchard Companies, is a retired senior U.K. police sector commander, whose experience working in partnership with a range of minority communities to restore and strengthen their confidence in local policing is now being applied to the Sunshine Coast’s Restorative Justice Program, where he serves as a board member and facilitator. The Donins moved to Gibsons from the U.K. in 2011.
