As much as things stay the same, things are changing at Coast Reporter.

Publisher Peter Kvarnstrom made several moves this past week to solidify the management team at the paper after the departure of Yvonne Paulson in July this year.

John Gleeson, current editor, has been promoted to the role of associate publisher and editor. Gleeson will continue his day-to-day duties as editor of our award-winning newspaper and website. He will also provide leadership both internally and externally within the community to ensure Coast Reporter continues to serve our communities and employees well into the future.

Gleeson has had a significant career in journalism and community publishing spanning 30 years and three provinces, with an impressive list of awards and accomplishments. His commitment to our industry is demonstrated in his work every day.

Pat Paproski joined Coast Reporter in July as the sales representative for our Sechelt-based customers. He has been promoted to the role of sales manager for the paper and our website. Paproski’s background includes many years in advertising sales and senior management with CTV and CBC television. He also spent a number of years with an ad agency purchasing media for local and national accounts. Most recently he worked in advertising sales with North Shore News before coming to Coast Reporter. Paproski has a reputation for honesty and integrity and combines that with a high degree of creativity. He is committed to ensuring our many customers on the Sunshine Coast continue to receive first-class customer service and great marketing solutions in print and online.

Nancy Tiffin has recently rejoined the sales team at Coast Reporter in the role of special projects manager. Returning to us after a year away, Tiffin manages the sales of special features in our paper and special supplements such as the Health & Wellness Guide, Family & Child Resource Directory, Wedding Guide, and Carol Book. She also oversees advertising for our Coast Life magazine. Tiffin brings professionalism and a great energy level to her clients that is simply unmatched.

Christine Wood has served our paper as reporter and senior reporter for nearly 18 years. She graduated from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) with a degree in journalism. Wood will be stepping in to the role of circulation manager while maintaining her hand solidly in her journalism craft. Wood takes over the responsibility of ensuring efficient and timely delivery of our paper from our long-time circulation manager Barbara Holt upon her pending retirement at year end.

“We at Coast Reporter are committed to serving our communities for many years into the future, and these changes position us to do just that,” Kvarnstrom said. “We simply couldn’t be happier with the team we currently have servicing the Sunshine Coast.”

Kvarnstrom also thanked veteran B.C. newspaperman Brian McCristall, who provided valuable assistance during the past two months while serving as interim general manager.
