Gerry and Jeanette Drombolis are still getting used to being $675,000 richer after a scratch ticket purchased in Gibsons paid off big time.

A Gibsons couple has won $675,000 through a scratch ticket purchased at Sunnycrest Mall – and the big win is still sinking in.

“I keep looking at the ticket and I still can’t believe it,” said winner Gerry Drombolis. “It will probably feel real when we put the cheque in the bank.”

Gerry and his wife Jeannette (who goes by the name Bev) shared the news with their sons who were equally shocked.

“Our youngest son’s first reaction was, ‘Shut the front door,’” laughed Bev.

Bev and Gerry plan to use their winnings to tackle some long-awaited home improvements. “We’ve lived in the same house for almost 40 years,” Bev said. “It’s definitely time for some home renovations!”

The winning Set for Life ticket was purchased at the mall’s Lotto Centre. The couple claimed the prize Monday, Oct. 24.

The Set for Life game has a top prize of $1,000 a week for 25 years which players can choose to trade for a one-time lump sum of $675,000.
