Powell River-Sunshine Coast NDP members gathered in Sechelt last Sunday (Feb. 17) for a pre-election potluck lunch and annual general meeting.
Approximately 75 members heard from incumbent MLA Nicholas Simons and guest speaker Leonard Krog MLA for Nanaimo.
Krog spoke warmly of Simons spirit and good humour in the Legislature and opposition caucus, and lauded him for his vigorous criticism of the government's support services for children, families and the disabled. Both Krog and Simons spoke of their admiration for the intelligence and leadership abilities of Adrian Dix, and are looking forward to the election campaign.
The re-elect Nicholas Simons campaign team was introduced, with Doug Davis as campaign manager, Bill Forst as campaign chair, Pauline Montgomery as the Sechelt office manager and Robyn Auclair as Powell River office manager.
The provincial election is set for May 14, 2013.
