A Halfmoon Bay man made his first appearance in Sechelt provincial court on Wednesday (Jan. 16) facing a charge of possession of child pornography.

Ian Stanley Reid has been charged under section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code. The case was adjourned until Feb. 13 to allow defence more time to get further information on the case from Crown counsel.

According to a release from Sunshine Coast RCMP, officers began their investigation in October 2012 when a search warrant was executed on Reid's residence.

The search resulted in the seizure of multiple computer hard drives and storage devices in which child pornography was located.

"There is nothing to indicate that any local children have been depicted in the evidence seized," said Cpl. Steve Chubey, spokesperson for Sunshine Coast RCMP.

RCMP say Reid has been released onstrict conditionslimiting his access to the Internet and unsupervised contact with persons under the age of 18.
