MELBOURNE, Australia - Queensland hooker James Hanson has been called into the Wallabies squad preparing for Saturday's second rugby test against France as a replacement for injured captain Stephen Moore.
Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie opted for Hanson, a 25-year-old who has played just one test, over his more seasoned Queensland teammate Saia Fainga'a who played for Australia on its tour to Britain last November.
Moore ruptured ligaments in his knee in the 15th minute of last weekend's first test against France, his first as Wallabies captain. He requires a knee reconstruction and will be sidelined for the rest of the season.
Flanker Michael Hooper who, at 22, became the youngest Wallabies captain in 67 years when he took over from Moore, is expected to be confirmed as captain for the second test.
