Support the food bank, go on a free paddle

Want to see a dragon boat up close and support the food bank at the same time? If so, then on Saturday, June 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., check out the dragon boat and the paddlers at the Trail Bay Centre in Sechelt and you can do just that.

Want to see a dragon boat up close and support the food bank at the same time? If so, then on Saturday, June 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., check out the dragon boat and the paddlers at the Trail Bay Centre in Sechelt and you can do just that. Before you leave the house grab a non-perishable food item for the food bank. Each food or cash donation gets a coupon for a free dragon boat ride on June 27 at Porpoise Bay Park.

The group sponsoring this event is the Sunshine Dragons, the dragon boat division of the Gibsons Paddle Club.

This energetic group of men and women have paddled up and down the Coast for the past five years raising funds and awareness for breast cancer. For this event they have decided to give back to this generous community by raising donations for the food bank. There will be tables set up with information about the food bank, the summer introductory program for both men and women, breast cancer awareness and information about the four different teams on the Coast.

See the boat all decked out for racing, talk to the dragon boat paddlers, and view plenty of pictures from various regattas.
