Last Sunday, April 13, Girl Guides from the Elphinstone District challenged the Roberts Creek Cub Scouts to a time honoured Scouting tradition the Kub Kar Rally.

In order to participate, each Girl Guide and Cub Scout had to build a little wooden car that met rigorous specifications of size and weight. The cars are run down a wooden track and judged on speed and design.

The race came about after a conversation between a Guider and a Scouter, when it was realized that the Cubs don't usually get a large rally together because of lack of numbers in a small community. The idea was born to combine the two groups together for the day, and the children were all very excited at the prospect.

Both Guiding and Scouting are alive and well on the Sunshine Coast, challenging children to do their best every day through hands on experiences.
