So you've given up on your New Year's resolution to work out five days a week and never let sugar touch your lips again. Don't feel bad -the BC SPCA has a sweet way you can channel your energies into saving animal lives.

Why not "bake" a difference for the second annual National Cupcake Day for SPCAs and Humane Societies, taking place Feb. 24, an event that helps animals across Canada? It takes very little time and it's tasty, too.

National Cupcake Day is the first-ever collaborative fundraising effort supporting animal welfare societies across Canada. It's easy and delicious to participate:

Register your participation on-line at: www.nationalcupcakeday.ca. Plan a cupcake party at work, home or school, start fundraising by encouraging friends and family to donate on-line in advance, bake your favourite cupcakes and share them with family and friends and collect donations to prevent cruelty to animals.

All proceeds will support furry friends, big and small, who have been abused or abandoned, or are in need of help. To register or to find more information, visit www.nationalcupcakeday.ca.
