Gibsons Recycling Depot is seeking votes from the Sunshine Coast community to become a finalist for two awards from Small Business BC's Successful You Awards Contest.

Gibsons Recycling is up against 25 businesses vying for the best community impact award, which recognizes businesses that demonstrate a positive impact in the community in which they operate and have taken positive action to invest in that community.

They are also nominated for the best green business award, for a company that shows an outstanding commitment to energy and sustainability through leadership, green practices and conservation.

In order to move on in the contest as a top 10 finalist, they need to gain as many votes as possible on the Successful You Awards website by Nov. 30

To vote for Gibsons Recycling Depot visit www.successfulyou.ca.

The top 10 highest voted nominees will be announced as finalists on Dec. 13, then go on to submit an application, which judges will use to decide the top five finalists from each category, announced on Jan. 30, 2013.

The winners will be announced at the Successful You awards ceremony on Feb. 28, 2013, at the Pan Pacific Vancouver.

A localfirm (InnovativeResearch) will be conducting a telephone citizen satisfaction survey over the next few weeks.

Your opinions are important to the District and to the decisions your council makes, said a notice posted on the District website. Your participation in the survey, estimated to take 10 to 15 minutes, is greatly appreciated.

According to the District, the survey is designed to seek input from the variety of adult age groups in our community. Survey callers may have already completed surveys for your group when you are called. You can also forward your suggestions input and comments to the District at [email protected].
