Coaster Katie Duncan has started her fundraising campaign in preparation for the 300km Ride to Conquer Cancer through the Cascade Mountains June 14 to 15.

This Saturday, March 22, Duncan is hosting a fundraiser at Gilligan's Pub from 4 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20. There will be live music from two local bands, prizes, auction table, games and a 50/50 draw. She has several other fundraising events planned in the coming months.

Teaching a spin class three days a week at VIBE and training on her indoor trainer, Duncan said she is getting well prepared for the ride.

"I'm excited to accomplish this in 2014, as it is one of the things on my vision board that I want to succeed in," she said. "After losing my brother Mike in 2007,watching close friends lose loved ones and having three very close family members fight and survive has made me want to challenge this. I want to thank Gilligan's Pub for helping me out by supporting me every step of the way, Spin Cycles for letting me use a bike to train with and all the wonderful people who have donated to my cause."
