Vocal Intent welcomes a new day

A Cappella
vocal intent

The a cappella group Vocal Intent is pictured just before they performed Jan. 6 at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt (from left): Jon Eriksson, Jen MacInness, Elizabeth Scott, Sylvain Brochu, Tina Wesseling, Tom Kellough.

The idea of Songs for a New Day obviously resonated with the capacity crowd. They opened with You Are the New Day to put everyone in the mood and continued with some classic pieces such as O Magnum Mysterium. A version of the Pentatonix Say Something was handled with musical skill and favourites such as Hallelujah and Bridge Over Troubled Water met with audience applause. Katherine Hume stepped in on the piano for these last two.

The group hopes to reprise the concert in March; details will be in Coast Reporter closer to the time.
