Visual artists can apply now to grants program

Eligible professional visual artists, craft artists and independent critics and curators living in B.C. have until Nov. 17 to apply for project assistance from the BC Arts Council.

Awards are available to support the creation of new specific works.

Applications may be made by eligible individuals or a collaboration of two or more practitioners who share creative control of a project.

In addition to residency requirements, applicants cannot be enrolled in full-time studies, must have completed all basic training and two or more years of professional artistic practice.

Professional artist status is defined as having had two or more professionally-curated exhibitions for which the artist has received exhibition fees. Independent curators or critics must have curated two or more exhibitions or professionally published two or more works of critical writing for which they have received professional fees.
