The dazzling Reside-Dawson Duo make their Coast Recital Society debut at the Raven's Cry Theatre in Sechelt this Sunday afternoon at 2:30, with a pre-concert chat at 1:30 p.m.

Flautist Christie Reside and pianist Terence Dawson will perform a program of works by Bach, Karl-Egert, Jolivet, Desmarais, Ibert and Brahms.

Reside is the principal flute of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, a position she has held since 2004. She has appeared as a soloist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, l'Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, among others.

She has been invited to participate in numerous festivals around the world, including the Spoleto Music Festival and the Mountain View International Festival of Song and Chamber Music.

An enthusiastic chamber musician, Reside has collaborated with artists such as Rudolf Jansen, Olivier Thouin, Yegor Dyachkov, Matt Haimovitz and Lise Daoust. She is also a member of Vancouver's acclaimed new music group, Standing Wave.

Dawson holds a doctorate in piano performance from UBC where he currently teaches piano and chamber music and is chair of the keyboard division at UBC.

Repeat invitations to give both concerts and master classes from coast to coast across Canada, as well as in the U.S., England and Asia affirm his versatility as a performer, dedicated teacher and engaging lecturer. He has appeared as concerto soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra and CBC Curio Ensemble and is the collaborator of choice for numerous artists and ensembles.

Together, their recital appearances offer both a tangible on-stage rapport and interpretations of repertoire recognizable as communicative, colourful and technically assured.
