Pender Harbour gets the blues

Three fabulous days of outstanding blues music at unique venues around scenic Pender Harbour: the 15th annual Pender Harbour Blues Festival is happening June 1 to 3. 

Shows nightly at the Royal Canadian Legion feature Brent Parkin, Al Foreman, and David Gogo, all accompanied by the fantastic house band, The Grand Koolios. Be sure to take in the ever-popular all-star Sunday afternoon jam, hosted by Tim Hearsey, with many special guests including, Jim Brynes, Steve Kozak and Karen Graves. 

Enjoy a fabulous dinner at The Painted Boat Restaurant while being entertained by Juno nominee Brandon Isaak, Friday and Saturday nights. 

Mad Park Bistro, in The Harbour Spirit Centre, will have the barbecue grilling, cold beer and the great sounds of local favourites Simon Paradis with Gut Bucket Thunder on Friday, and Poppa Greg and the Chillin’ Dylans on Saturday. Mad Park Bistro will also be serving Sunday brunch with Joshua Wood, and Bonar and Ted. 

King of the boogie woogie piano, Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne will be rocking the Pender Harbour Community Hall at the Saturday night dance party. 

The Sunday morning gospel show at the Pender Harbour School of Music will be led by legendary bluesman Jim Byrnes featuring the Pender Harbour Choir. 

Free shows Saturday afternoon at the Blues Stage in Madeira Park feature Brent Parkin, Brandon Isaak, Steve Kozak, Tim Hearsey, Steve Hinton Band, Simon Paradis and Jim Foster. There will also be an artisan and craft fair on site. 

Across the Harbour in Garden Bay, The Café at John Henry’s will present the talented Luci Herder for Friday night dinner show and Blue Line Trio featuring Gary Gilbert, Saturday afternoon. The SloCat will be offering a shuttle service between Garden Bay and Madeira Park. All venues are accessible by boat.
