Coast Recital Society

The Vogler String Quartet and pianist Ian Parker perform this Sunday, Feb. 21, at Raven’s Cry Theatre.

The Vogler String Quartet and pianist Ian Parker return to the Coast Recital Society (CRS) this Sunday, Feb. 21. The concert at the Raven’s Cry Theatre begins at 2:30 p.m. with a pre-concert chat at 1:30, hosted by CRS artistic director Frances Wainwright.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary with the 2015/2016 season, the Grammy nominated Vogler Quartet, with all four of its original members, continues to build upon its reputation as one of the finest quartets of its generation. Mastering a repertoire of over 200 works from all periods and musical styles, they are widely recognized for their uncommon musical intelligence, homogeneous sound, insightful interpretations, and unconventional programming. Tim Vogler, Frank Reinecke, Stefan Fehlandt, and Stephan Forck have created a vibrant ensemble spirit, as well as a unique string quartet sound which consistently offers new insights into the genre.

Vancouver-based pianist Ian Parker is a magnetic, articulate artist, and a past winner of the CBC National Radio Competition for Young Performers. A graduate of the Juilliard School, Parker is an active recording artist and has collaborated with the Vogler Quartet on numerous occasions.

The musicians will perform music by Ravel, Schul-hoff, Stravinsky, and Shos-takovich. For information, call 604-885-0991 or see www.coastrecitalsociety.ca
