New show at GPAG

Art Beat

Video-Pictures by Ross Muirhead opened at the Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG) on Nov. 13 and runs to Dec. 15 with an opening reception this Saturday, Nov. 15, 2 to 4 p.m.

Muirhead is a Roberts Creek multi-media artist who graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design and University of British Columbia.

“Video footage is edited and looped, several with audio. Scrolling text is added at the beginning of each scene to provide context. The text is part storytelling, part historical,” he said. “Several videos include interviews and background soundscapes.”

In the Eve Smart Gallery of GPAG, artist Kelly Findlay exhibits her photographs of nature, titled Coastal Silent Witness.

“I seek to convey the true beauty that I find in my surroundings through photographic expression,” Findlay said. “Capturing the beauty I find along beaches and forest trails is an extension of my silent witness. My main focus is nature and eagles.”
