The New Orford String Quartet (NOSQ) makes its Coast Recital Society debut this Sunday afternoon, Oct. 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the Raven's Cry Theatre in Sechelt.

Hailed for their ravishingly beautiful tone as well as their extraordinary technical skills and musicianship, the members of NOSQ are all principal players in the Montreal and Toronto symphony orchestras.
NOSQ was formed in 2009, 18 years after the original Orford Quartet disbanded.
Carrying on the Orford tradition of excellence, the new ensemble was immediately hailed by the music critic of Montreal's La Presse for its "level of technique, sound quality, blend and expressive richness."
NOSQ members include: violinists Jonathan Crow and Andrew Wan; Eric Nowlin, viola and cellist Brian Manker.
Crow, a native of Prince George, is concert master of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Wan is concert master of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Nowlin is associated principal viola of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Manker is principal cellist of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
NOSQ has seen astonishing success since its first concert.
They received a Juno Award nomination in 2012. Their CD of the final quartets of Schuberrt and Beethoven drew international acclaim: "a performance of true greatness and compelling intensity....stunning!"
The musicians will perform on an exceptional group of instruments that includes a violin made in 1744 by Michel'Angelo Bergonzi; a viola made in 1910 by the Neapolitan luthier Giovanni Pistucci, and a Pietro Guarneri cello made in Venice in 1729. The program will include music by Beethoven, Brahms and Jacques Hétu. The CRS concert is part of a 16 concert Western Canada tour that includes NOSQ concerts in Victoria, Edmonton, Calgary and White Rock.
