Cartea tour

Drummer Barry Taylor is on tour with Gibsons vocalist Deanna Cartea and he reports that the tour has been going great and they have been performing in Toronto. Besides the Deanna Cartea band performance last Friday, the band Delhi 2 Dublin with Sunshine Coaster Sara Fitzpatrick was also playing the same evening - the sets overlapped at different venues - plus the Mindil Beach Market guys were in town the following Tuesday.

"Thought that was/is pretty cool," Taylor said. "Three Coaster connections within one week, playing music in a far away city."

Hammond home

Mezzo soprano Patricia Hammond's marathon of 100 concerts during the course of three months in the Lower Mainland has come to an end. Her huge tour with an accompanist, Doug Balfour, involved singing at care homes as far away as Hope, Chilliwack, Agassiz and Richmond.

Before the Gibsons-born Hammond flew back to London, England, she also performed a few impromptu recitals with pianist Ken Dalgleish, one at Shorncliffe in Sechelt and the other at Christenson Village in Gibsons on the same day -an energetic accomplishment from a delightful singer.
