The Driftwood Theatre School is welcoming a new face sure to inspire.

"Teaching and performing theatre for me is a passion. I eat, live and breathe performing my art," said John Conway, the newest addition to the Driftwood Theatre School teaching staff. "If it's not fun, it's not worth doing!"

The renowned actor, director and producer (last seen as Drosselmeyer in the sold-out run of The Nutcracker) brings decades of experience, coupled with an infectious energy and love of performing that is sure to inspire students.

"I am committed to being 100 per cent present every class with high octaneintensity to ignite the fire in your heart for the art," he said. "I find it helps to break down concepts into their simplest terms,so thatall drama skills become achievable. Above all else, I makethe coursepractical to the industry, so if the desire is there,a path is established for students to successfully live out theirdreams."

Registrar Sandi McGinnis is thrilled to welcome someone of Conway's talent and stature to the Driftwood Theatre School.

He has studied theatre with the Second City Fire Hall, University of Victoria, VVC Studio 58, Tuba Theatre Vancouver, Douglas College Theatre Program and UCLA Musical Theatre Program and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in California.

Ingrid Bilton, a three-year instructor with DTS, is equally enthusiastic.

"John was able to substitute teach forus in the teen drama classlast semester, and students are still excited about the experience! We are already getting calls from local actors asking about John's program," Bilton said.

The Driftwood Theatre School's upcoming classes (held at St. Bart's Hall in Gibsons) include adult drama with Conway, creative drama for eight to 10 year olds and teen drama with instructor Tracy Lloyd, and discovering theatre (10 to 13 years) with Bilton.
