Czech youth choir comes to Sechelt

The 2014 International Choral Kathaumixw Tour comes to St. Hilda’s Church in Sechelt next Sunday afternoon, July 6, at 2 p.m.

The concert will feature members of the outstanding Tachov Children’s Choir. Comprised of youth aged 12 to 22, this wonderful young ensemble from the Czech Republic was founded in 1973 by its current conductor, Josef Brabenec.

The Tachov Children’s Choir is one of the most successful choral ensembles in the Czech Republic. The group has participated in many national and international choral events. A past recipient of the Golden Palm Award at the Olomouc Festival of Songs, the choir received two silver diplomas from the 2010 World Choir Olympiad in Shaoxing, China.

The choir has performed in 16 European countries, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina and China, and has been featured with the Westbohemian Symphony Orchestra of Marienbad, the oldest orchestra in the Czech Republic.

This concert is a collaboration between St. Hilda’s Church and the Coast Recital Society.
