The Suncoast Concert Band will perform at the Sechelt Indian Band Hall on April 29.

Spring is here and with it the first round of seasonal music offerings. Enter the Suncoast Concert Band, now in preparation for its concert Sunday, April 29 at the Sechelt Indian Band Hall. Under the leadership of veteran conductor Tak Maeda, the band is just back from a romp into Vancouver for a joint Hands Across the Howe Sound concert together with the West Vancouver Concert Band, one of Tak’s “other” bands.

As Tak loves to say, “Are we having fun yet?” Well yes, as a matter of fact we are, and no doubt you will as well with the infectious enthusiasm of this ensemble and conductor. In the first half of the concert, you will hear traditional band music and light classical music such as the brassy Procession of the Nobles by Rimsky-Korsakov. The second half will feature popular songs, old-timer movie selections, cartoon tunes, and musical favourites such as West Side Story.

The Suncoast Concert Band is a local community-oriented group, formed by a wide-ranging and well-balanced age group who love to entertain the audience with a diverse musical repertoire.

Concert time is 2:30 p.m. Tickets are at Laedeli and Strait Music for $20, or $5 for children 12 and under.
