You may know her as the creative face painter often found at the Sechelt Thursday Night Market or the friendly voice answering the phone and supporting many initiatives at St. John's United.
Jacqueline Samson is close to the end of a journey, which started in 2006.
Samson has been studying to become a diaconal minister within the United Church of Canada - seven dedicated years of study at home, in Winnipeg and Vancouver.
In October she will travel to Guatemala, part of her studies and course requirement, for a global perspectives experience. She will travel with the Breaking the Silence delegation from the Tatamagouche Centre in Nova Scotia.
A coffeehouse fundraiser is being organized by Samson, her family and friends to help with her expenses to Guatemala and to support the Tatama-gouche Centre. Decadent desserts, a variety of coffees and teas, an amazing silent auction and, most of all, wonderful music by Joe Stanton, Ken Dalgleish, Randeesh, Reg and Lynne Dickson and Jill Conway will create a fun-filled evening in support of Samson and the Tatamagouche Centre for their continuing work in Guatemala.
The fundraiser takes place Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at St. John's United Church in Davis Bay. Tickets are $10, available at the church or by calling 604-885-9822.
